“He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [healing their pain and their sorrow].” Ps 147:3 AMP

2019
April 15

Blessings to you and your family!

It has been a very busy month for Mariana and her team of caregivers and social workers at The Village of Hope!

So far this month 12 children have been placed into foster families. Two children that we placed last year are getting their adoption papers finalized this month – they are so excited to have a loving home and forever family. But as these children leave The Village of Hope for a new life, more arrive needing our love and care.

Here are the stories of two brokenhearted mothers and their children who arrived at The Village of Hope last week.

After months of horrific abuse at the hands of her husband, Ana Maria and her 7-month-old daughter Melissa were brought to us by Child Protection Services. Ana Maria’s husband was a very violent man, and one night in an out-of-control rage, he beat her severely and threw baby Melissa out of a 2nd story window.  Can you imagine that? It’s unthinkable!

Thank God, Melissa fell on to the grass and some bales of hay and was not badly injured. She made a full recovery at the local children’s hospital. The husband was arrested and is now in jail.   They will stay with us at The Village of Hope for as long as needed so they can recover physically and emotionally from this ordeal.

Another mother and daughter in our care are Lidia and her 4 year-old daughter Andrea.  Authorities found them in a run-down shack, cold and hungry.  Lidia had taken ill and was unable to work. Some neighbors who had been giving them food mentioned their situation to the local police and they contacted us. They are now safe and in our care.

Psalm 147:3 says:  “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds [healing their pain and their sorrow]” (AMP).

That’s what we are called to do at The Village of Hope…heal…bind up wounds (physical and emotional)…and provide comfort to those who are suffering. And we wouldn’t be able to do any of this without the love, prayers, and faithful support of partners like you. Thank you!

We are always in need of more family sponsors at $43.20 a month…$129.60 for 3 months or…$518.40 for a year. Anything you can do, great or small, will make a difference and give hope and a new start in life to these mothers and their children.

Easter is just a week away and we want to distribute 450 Easter packages to the children at The Village of Hope, those in foster families, and in the local elementary schools.  Each package will have clothes, candies, fruit, a Bible coloring book and either a toy truck or doll.

We still need additional partners to accomplish this – it’s not too late to help this week!

Each parcel costs 7 Euros or $7.94.  For $15.88 you can provide 2 Easter packages…for $39.70 you can provide 5 Easter packages…for $79.40 you can provide 10 Easter Packages…and for $158.80 you can provide 20 Easter packages.

You can give on-line at bobgass.com/give, or call our office at 1-800-964-9846 and put a gift on your credit card. Please contact us right away.

We wish you and your family a blessed Easter.

He is RISEN!

God Cares Deeply About Children!

2019
April 1

Blessings to you!

After 28 years working with the children in Romania and The Village of Hope, the thing that matters most to me is doing God’s will. I want to be involved in what God cares about, and His Word says He cares deeply about children.

Today I was reading two Scriptures that reveal His heart:

"He took a little child whom he placed among them. Taking the child in his arms, he said to them, ‘Whoever welcomes one these little children in my name welcomes me.'"        (Mark 9:36-37 NIV)

"People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said  to them, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these’...And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them." (Mark 10:13-16 NIV)

Bible verses like these assure me that what we do for the children at The Village of Hope matters to God.

Mariana and her team of social workers have been very busy this past month.  Right now, we have 62 children in residence. Six children from 6 months to 2 years of age, 34 children from 2-½ to 4 years of age, and 22 children 4 to 14 years of age!

Let me share with you some of our “newest arrivals.”

2 year-old Sonia is very shy and quiet.  Her mother was involved in an abusive and violent relationship with her boyfriend. After being called to the apartment numerous times, Child Protection Services removed Sonia from the home and brought her to us. Our social workers are currently searching to see if there are any relatives nearby that can care for her.

4-year-old Benjamin was abandoned by his mother. She dropped him on the doorstep of The Village of Hope and said she was going to find work in Germany.  There is no father involved in his life that we know of.  Benjamin is very social and loves to play with his toys and the other kids.

5-year-old Simona was brought to The Village of Hope last month. Her teacher called our social workers because she was coming to school very hungry and dirty. We discovered she was living with her elderly grandparents, but they were very poor and unable to care for her. Simona will stay with us until we find a family to care for her and her grandparents will continue to visit her each month.

Easter is just a few weeks away!  This year we plan to provide. . .450 Easter packages for the children at The Village of Hope, those in foster families, and poorer children in the local elementary schools.

Each package will have clothes, candies, fruit, a Bible story book, and a toy truck or a doll.  Mariana told us that we can provide a parcel for each child for €7 euros or $7.94. . .  $3,573 in all.

Would you prayerfully consider helping us this Easter?

Your gift of $397. . .will provide 50 Easter packages for the children. . .$198.50 will provide 25 Easter packages. . . $119.10 will provide 15 Easter packages and. . .$79.40 will provide 10 Easter packages.

Because of the large number of children in our care we always need “family sponsors” at $43.20 a month or $518.40 a year. Your faithful support each month allows us to continue rescuing children and placing them into loving foster families.

I look forward to hearing from you this week.

Bob
